Allies for Everyone & Miyagi – Golden [ICONYC]

The latest release from John Johnson's ICONYC finds the label showcasing new remixes of 'Golden' by Allies for Everyone & Miyagi. Released late last year as part of Allies for Everyone's number one album 'Allies for Everyone', 'Golden' was one of three colabs featured on the long-player. The New York City resident paired with German artist Miyagi for a cross continental dancefloor excursion highlighted by silky smooth vocals, fragmented arps and elastic-like grooves. Now, looking to breathe new life into the track, ICONYC invites Luca Bacchetti and Kollektiv Ost to provide their own interpretations for the spring and summer seasons.

Making his ICONYC debut with the first interpretation of 'Golden' is Luca Bacchetti. The Italian artist's diverse musical tastes have shaped his storied career, resulting in a meticulous discography with immaculate creations via All Day I Dream, Crosstown Rebels, Ovum Recordings and his own Endless imprint. Always a creative remixer, Luca has once again dialled in a beauty for his 'Golden' rendition. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, Luca crafts a sweeping sonic experience all his own, one where redolent themes and deconstructed vocals blanket voluptuous grooves and flashing percussive arrangements. Coming to full fruition across the main break, it’s a college of whimsical vocals, bucolic textures and hopeful atmospheres which serves to elevate mood onwards to a thumping finale.

Rounding out the release are Kollektiv Ost who make their label debut with the second and final interpretation of 'Golden'. The German duo have been fixtures of Europe's melodic scene for well over a decade, taking their club friendly sound to some of Germany's premiere imprints in 3000 Grad, Dantze, Katermukke and Ritter Butzke. With a sound that seems tailor made for ICONYC the duo make an impressive label debut, talking 'Golden' into emotive territory. Tough beats and warm rippling grooves serve as the foundation for spirited phrasing and timeless electronics to work their magic, before a well crafted break provides just the right amount of tension for a glowing final movement. An inspired interpretation from Kollektiv Ost, which rounds out a welcome remix edition for 'Golden' by Allies for Everyone and Miyagi. Don't miss it.
