Abity – Sub / Voyage [Balkan Connection]

Abity returns to Balkan Connection for another one of the label's special mid-week releases. The Argentinean duo have found a comfortable home on the Serbian imprint in recent years, having delivered EP's in 2017 and 2018. Now following a contribution to the Or Two Strangers 'Strangers' collection the Sante Fe duo return to Balkan Connection with 'Sub / Voyage'.

Beginning with 'Sub', Abity explores deeper textures and mystical story-boarding. On a backbone of warm beats and fluid bass comes a wealth of percussive flurries, cosmic effects and most importantly a running vocal narrative. Quite mysterious in nature, it carries the meditative journey, enlightening the mind and delivering anticipatory vibes, before a cosmic break resets the groove for a smooth finish.

The companion piece 'Voyage' ups the tempo slightly for a quirkier mood overall. It's chunky groove carries a lovely bounce while acidic meanderings and gentle swells add further cadence to the framework. Not without emotive moments, the final act layers texture and atmosphere in a subtle but profound way, making for an understated yet poignant conclusion. It rounds out a successful return to Balkan Connection for Abity. who continue to be one of Argentina's most talented production duos.
