Releases Monojoke – Smokescreen [Soundteller Records] By Release Promo Posted on 10th November 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Monojoke follows up an excellent EP for Juicebox Music with a brand new single for Deersky’s Soundteller Records. The Polish artist has been relatively quiet this year making this rush of new material quite exciting. He has also gained considerable acclaim of late for his collaborative project Fluente, in conjunction with fellow countryman and Electronic Tree boss Tuxedo. Together the duo have showcased their work on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound. Monojoke’s solo productions remain some of the most anticipated in the progressive underground and his latest creation for Soundteller comes alongside a heavyweight remixer cast of Kamilo Sanclemente & DaBeat and Subandrio. For those that have fallen in love with Monojoke’s unique take on progressive music you’re bound to latch onto ‘Smokescreen’ pretty quickly. The Polish artist’s electric, effervescent design is on it’s finest form here, with a driving pulse and hazy wall of harmonic colour. Monojoke has taken breakdown dramatics to a new level this year, as witnessed by his two recent tracks on Juicebox and here as well. The two minute interlude is a collage of gaseous effects, fluid rhythms and progressive minded melodies, all of which unite in the ultimate sonic shower as the beats drop for a magic moment. The first remix is provided by one of the progressive scenes most hotly tipped duos in Kamilo Sanclemente & Dabeat. The Colombian pair have been frequent studio partners in recent years, having released on Beatfreak Recordings, FSOV and Perspectives Digital. Their spacious, ultra fluid style lends itself quite nicely to ‘Smokescreen’, as they open the track up for a pulsating, peak time floor burner. It’s warm rippling groove immediately grabs your attention while clever percussive clusters and airy melodic concepts fill the air. Elevating the narrative further, the main break fuses ghostly vocals and a wall of melodic colour, before a timely roll sparks a classy re-entry. The release concludes with Subandrio returning to the label which quickly follows a collaborative EP with Lonya, released courtesy of Beatfreak Recordings. Also owning releases on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music and Cid Inc’s Replug Records the Sri Lankan artist now returns to Soundteller with a stunning interpretation of ‘Smokescreen’. Subandrio has never shied away from producing big records but this one is particularly gigantic. The low end is rough, rugged and full of energetic pulses. It proves to be the perfect anchor for a blend of grainy sonics and charged rhythms. Growling synths add further dramatic fuel before an astral break tips the scales of tension for a downright enormous drop. Likely one of Subandrio’s uhbpy0vbiggest remixes to date. It rounds out what is an essential package from Deersky’s Soundteller Records with the only question being which version to play. Highly recommended.
