The Cobb – Haft [Deepwibe Underground]

Deepwibe Underground opens the month of September by welcoming The Cobb back to the label for a new EP. Now firmly established in the worlds of progressive and organic house, the Russian artist has split time between -102C and Deepwibe Underground since first appearing a year ago. Seven credits deep into his discography, The Cobb has earned support from electronic tastemakers Sasha, Solomun, Nick Warren and Guy J, while also being remixed by progressive music stars Dmitry Molosh, GMJ and Kamilo Sanclemente. Now presenting his fourth original project for Deepwibe Underground, The Cobb returns to the label with a three track showcase entitled 'Haft'.

Once again finding that creative sweet spot between progressive and organic house are the gorgeous sounds of the opener 'Never Sleep'. It's warm design qualities are hugely inviting, while a continually evolving storyboard of exotic percussion, whimsical motifs and thunderous bassy rumblings make for a concise yet transcendent seven minute journey. Moving forward, the title selection 'Haft' delivers a smooth, pulsating storyboard where The Cobb flexes his penchant for exotic percussive arrangements. Detail and depth are at a premium here, with rich atmospheric phrasing setting the backdrop for a forest of consciousness expanding drums, lush tonal themes and swirling harmonics. Rounding the EP out in style are the heavenly sounds of 'Forever In My Heart'. The tempo shifts down just a touch and a pixie-like vocal leads the way into an emotive reservoir of sound. This might be one of The Cobb's finest creations with hints of nostalgia marrying modern day organic trends for a feel good, end of the night style record that leaves long lasting memories. A perfect selection to conclude The Cobb's biggest artist showcase to date, and one that continues to establish his place amongst the underground's fastest rising talents. Highly recommended.
