Daniel Bruns – Made of Dreams [Cirque Du Son]

The latest release from Cirque Du Son finds label boss Daniel Bruns back in the spotlight with a new EP. The German artist has a long history in electronic music with a career spanning over two decades. As a DJ and promoter for PIAS Recordings, Daniel worked with established artists such as Mr. Oizo, Laurent Garnier, Agoria and Blaze, while honing his own production skills in the meantime. An accomplished DJ, Daniel has been a regular on the German club scene for some time, having shared the decks with Blake Baxter, Pig & Dan and Format: B. 2012 saw the birth of his own imprint 'Cirque Du Son', where he showcases his own creations along with other cutting edge artists. Now fresh off a remix of Dr. Grow's 'Multiplicity', Daniel returns to his comfortable home of Cirque Du Son for his first original project of 2020 'Made of Dreams'.

The title track kicks off the proceedings with a smooth, free flowing quality. Rolling grooves, vocal fragments and sleek rhythms surround a percussive framework, making for an energetic first act. The main break sees the proceedings melt down to a rhythmic rumble, as a trail of modulation sparks a wave of noise and a nostalgic drum roll, perfectly setting up a melodic finale.

Sitting as a lovely complement to it's predecessor, ‘Peter Parkers Wild Life’ rounds the release out in fine style with further hypnotic leanings. Built around a chugging foundation, it’s spacey arps and classic chord changes grab a hold of you as the first act begins to take shape. Trailing into the main break acid-like lines bring a gorgeous blend of texture and colour, tastefully building tension, before smoothly shifting energy into a finale of esoteric designs and percussive flurries. It caps off two inspired cuts from Daniel, who returns to Cirque Du Son with some of his finest work to date. Highly recommended.
