Leandro Murua – Mananti [Deepwibe Underground]

The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes Leandro Murua to the label for his debut EP. Based in Cordoba, the Argentinean artist has compiled an impressive resume since first appearing in July of last year. In just eight short months Leandro has landed releases on 3rd Avenue, Another Life Music and Balkan Connection South America. Now continuing to build momentum he debuts on Deepwibe Underground with 'Mananti'.

The title track kicks off the proceedings with a classic progressive sensibility. Tough beats, rolling grooves and a fluid arp work wonderfully across the first act. Dark and energetic, the pulsating groove drives forward with striking effects piercing the air at timely moments. Stripping down into the main break sees the dark narrative evolve further with an array of devilish electronics eventually leading to a commanding drop and ominous finale.

The release concludes with ‘The Starry Night’ which drifts further into hypnotic territory. Anchored by a warm and sightly deeper groove, it’s trance-like arps and chugging rhythms resonate beautifully against a backdrop of sweeping atmospheres. A broken-beat section serves as the perfect interlude, introducing trippy motifs and squelchy synth lines, before giving way to cross-cultural phrases and spastic effects as the groove returns for a driving finale. It rounds out an excellent Deepwibe Underground debut from Leandro, who continues to build on a great start to his career. Highly recommended.
