Ilona Maras, Sanja feat. Billie Fountain – Curve Of The Horizon [Dear Deer]

Dear Deer Records returns this week with one of their biggest projects of the year from Ilona Maras and Sanja. Fresh off a release on Get Physical the much loved Swiss duo now find themselves back on Dear Dear with a new single featuring the vocals of Billie Fountain.

Dear Deer has become loved for their crossover sounds. They seem to traverses' the waters of deep, tech and progressive house with an effortless ease. This release really exemplifies that beginning with the original mix. It's deep, dark and chunky groove is primed perfectly for the dance floor while an array of stunning effects and ethereal vocals slowly surround the framework. Although somewhat indistinct and heavily processed the vocals do shine here. Trippy, beautiful and engaging all at once, coming to full fruition during a cosmic break, perfectly setting up a classy drop and emotive finale.

This might be the most impressive remixer selection Dear Deer has ever presented with Marc DePulse and Quivver both delivering excellent interpretations. First up German artist and Einmusika regular Marc DePulse toughens up the groove and makes excellent use of the vocal, putting it in a more audible yet equally dreamy context. A simple arp adds wonderful meditative qualities as smooth chord changes add just the right emotive touch. Classy remix from Marc.

The release concludes with the one and only John Graham aka Quivver making his label debut. Listening to the original, the elements certainly lend themselves to a remix from John so it's an excellent fit and the results certainly dictate that. Smooth and exhilarating in equal measure, the groove gets reshaped into something more fluid and free flowing, setting the perfect foundation for John's distinctive stabs and robust rhythmic core. A pure dance floor groover and no doubt something you'll hearing a lot in the coming months. A stellar package from Dear Deer and one we can't recommend highly enough.
