Based in Brazil and firmly entrenched in the country's progressive music scene; the Campinas resident has found solid footing since first emerging almost a decade ago. Yudi's spirited creations have found a home on Beatfreak, Clubsonica Records, Freegrant Music and Transensations, while progressive house tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have been supporters along the way. Meanwhile, Samaxdhi is a production duo comprised of Argentinean artists Gabbha Sounds and Facundo Ortega. Although at the beginning of their partnership, Samaxdhi has already found a home on AH Digital, Future Avenue and Nube Music. With Yudi remixing the Samaxdhi's 'Blueprints' track last year, the trio now unite for their first ever collaborations via Soundteller Records. Title track 'Take Off Time' comes in deep and smooth with nice low end pulses and buzzing lines setting the mood. Bubbly arps make for the primary motif here, creating a nice hypnotic quality through layers of detailed percussion and indistinct vocal fragments. Not looking to get too big or obvious, it's smooth modulation during the break which delivers the necessary tension for a powerful drop and liquid like finale. The second and final selection 'Breathe' lowers the tempo a touch but with a fuller more driving groove backing it. Phasing stabs offset each other nicely, playing off clattering percussion for a hip-swinging vibe, while cosmic arps evolve and percolate across the second act, before ultimately giving way to a high octane finish. Powerful stuff from from Yudi Watanabe and Samaxdhi, an artist trio who make their debut collaborations most memorable. Highly recommended.
