Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Polyptych Limited welcomes Yair Zarmon to the label for his debut EP. Splitting time betweenTel Aviv and New York City it was DJing which came first for Israeli artist Yair Zarmon. Introduced to DJing by fellow countryman and progressive music star Guy Mantzur, Yair became a regular in the nightlife of both Tel Aviv and New York City, before ultimately turning his focus to production in 2021. Inspired by the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Deep Dish and more, it was a contribution to Bullfinch’s Spring 2021 Compilation which would mark Yair’s production debut, before going on to contribute a track to Modern Agenda’s ‘Elevation’ collection. Now, following his first artist showcase for Bullfinch ‘Choices We Make’, Yair makes his Polyptych Limited debut with a three track showcase entitled ‘Paradise’.

The first selection ‘Good Hammered’ sets the tone with a pacey pulsating, hypno-groove and driving percussive arrangements. Tough and trippy in equal measure, Yair builds drama across the first act with deconstructed vocal elements, striking metallics and evolving atmospheres which forge a path into the main break. A wonky synth lead of the astral variety takes centrestage across the interlude, nicely interwoven with the vocal elements as the beats drop in unassuming fashion for a finale that is both meditative and cosmic.

Selection two ‘Got the Feeling’ lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Tempo comes down a touch here while fitting nicely into a melodic house and techno narrative. Once again there are vocal edits which prove to be quite captivating, being put to great use as dubby chord stabs and a devilish array of effects push energy into the break. Warm, key changing basslines dominate the centrepiece, nicely providing the backdrop for unique percussive co-actions, which ultimately spearhead a driving, late-night finale.

The release concludes with ‘Eyes of Paradise’ which finds Yair continuing to explore the darker narratives for which he has become known. A tough, chunky groove sits at the foundation, while prophetic designs and detailed percussive arrangements add bounce and drive. Proving his prowess as a supreme vocal editor, Yair brings a unique array of timely gates which add depth and colour across the journey, as offset chord stabs and warm bass swells propel the track to a smooth conclusion. It rounds out a hugely successful Polyptych Limited debut for Yair Zarmon, an artist who looks to emerge further as 2023 unfolds. Highly recommended.
