VegaZ SL & Dimel De Silva – Tundras [Dopamine White]

The latest release on Nikko.Z's Dopamine White finds Vegaz SL and Dimel De Silva collaborating on a three-track showcase. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Sri Lanka, both Vegaz SL and Dimel De Silva have made their mark on the genre's global scene. A combined resume boasts releases via BCSA, Deepwibe Underground, Droid9, Sound Avenue and Transensations, while some of the world's most highly regarded DJs have championed their work. Having both appeared on Dopamine White previously, Vegaz and Dimel now make a welcome return to the label with their 'Tundras' EP.

Combining their extensive forces, Vegaz and Dimel set the tone of the release with the title selection 'Tundras'. Played out over eight minutes, a classically styled progressive groove sets the foundation for a bevy of trippy effects and wispy melodic fragments. Sitting at the heart of the track is an expansive break, complete with submerged beats, swirling noise and mallet-like clusters, all of which unite for a colourful crescendo and thrilling finale.

Meanwhile, selection two 'Tears of an Angel' finds Vegaz SL operating in solo capacity, moving the release forward with a deep, chugging groove and a wealth of cosmic creativities. Undeniably progressive, its indistinct vocal edits, spiralling motifs and clattering percussion blaze a trail into a near two-minute interlude. Tense and astral in equal measure, the break builds drama through misty atmospheres and otherworldly effects, while the vocal narrative continues to evolve as the thumping groove drops back in for a charged final movement.

The third and final selection 'Unspoken Feelings' puts a resounding cap on the release with a dark and mysterious vibe that is sure to bring life to your dance floor. Deep and fluid throughout, the duo's prophetic designs are illuminating, tactfully merging for a buzzing wall of momentous energy. Looking to bring greater emotional depth, the main break adds colour through muted keys, hopeful pads and cinematic style textures, before eventually breaking off into a thumping yet poignant finale. It rounds out a stunning collection of music from Vegaz SL and Dimel De Silva, a pair of produdcers who continue to be two of Sri Lanka's fastest rising progressive music talents. Don't miss it
