Various Artists – Tales of Time (Chapter 2) [Juicebox Music]

The latest release from Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music finds the label presenting the second installment of it’s ‘Tales of Time’ series. Released in July of 2019, the inaugural edition found the label stretching it's sonic boundaries with it's first foray into electronica. Comprised of nine tracks and featuring many of the label's favourites such as Eric Lune, Nishan Lee, Greenage and Dimuth K; the collection's lush textures and captivating soundscapes proved to be a highlight in the label's release schedule. With fans only knowing the artists for their progressive house sound, this nine track showcase gave listeners a new perspective into their studio repertoire. Now just under two years later the label continues the series with a second and much anticipated edition. Chapter 2 pushes those boundaries a notch further with an even greater scope of sound. Beginning with the placid, cinematic stylings of B.A.X. and Monojoke, the release smoothly moves into more organic inspired territory with cuts from firastical, Li-Polymer, Vichitra and Greg Tomaz. These exotic sounds are not only representative of electronic music's current trends, but prove to be the perfect peak in this ten track journey. EL1AX's 'Sunset Over Puget Sound' acts as a bridge into more experiential cuts from Nick Warren favourites Subandrio and Scippo, before melting down into the poignant cascades of 'Hypnerotomachia' by KD Edulji which round out the collection on a reflective note. That curious feeling of suspended time arises throughout journey, in which something as short as three serene minutes can bring the entire modern world to a standstill, perhaps a state of mind that is quite welcome at the moment.
