The annual release has become highly anticipated, regularly providing some of the season's most exciting new music. With no boundaries on style or artist notoriety the collection's have always been a outlet for fresh talent and seasoned veteran's to showcase their best music. The latest installment sees label artist's Matias Vila and Madloch returning while Paul Angelo & Don Argento and Eric Lune make their Sound Avenue debuts. Having first appeared on the label in 2012 Matias Vila has grown into one of it's core artists. The Argentinean producer has a groovy, psychedelic style all his own, as showcased wonderfully on his contribution here 'Ahora'. Beginning with an organic, tribal tinged flair it's dulcet beats and smooth rhythmic flow quickly become irresistible. With a soulful essence, guitar strums steal the air, resonating deeply in their organic surroundings, ultimately leading to a break of beaming melodic clusters and a joyous yet tasteful apex. Paul Angelo & Don Argento have achieved remarkable success over the last calendar year. The Cyprus based duo have found their way into the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and with recent releases on Movement Recordings and Soundteller Records the future looks bright. Now making their much anticipated Sound Avenue debut the duo present one of their best productions to date in 'Durendal'. Dark, chugging grooves have become a hallmark for Paul and Don and they've carved out another beauty here. Bursting with ultrasonic qualities and rugged character it sets the perfect foundation for a variety of trippy motifs to work their magic. It's ominous narrative builds which each successive loop, perfectly setting up a masterful break, where just the right splash of emotion delivers a magical drop and exhilarating finale. 2017 was a year of change for Belgian artist Madloch. When not touring the globe, the Sound Avenue label boss continued to re-tool his sound, stretching his sonic envelope into borderless territory. The year ended with a release on the esteemed Magician On Duty imprint, perfectly setting up what promises to be a memorable 2018 for the Belgian artist. Now unveiling his first project of the year he presents the highly anticipated 'State Of Mind'. It's three minute intro is one of delicate beauty as organic percussion, pulsating swells and esoteric designs meet as the beats finally drop. Reflective in tone, it's slow burning storyboard board is one of deeper emotions. Wistful motifs and hopeful pads create a heartfelt resonance as a chugging rhythmic core blesses the framework across its eight minute journey. The release concludes with Eric Lune making his label debut. Hailing from Melbourne, the Australian artist is perhaps best known for his Kindred alias. A downtempo/ambient project in which he spent six years under, earning more than two million streams across YouTube and Spotify while playing at some of the country's most prestigious festivals. Now looking to put an emphasis on the dance floor under the Eric Lune moniker, the Australian artist presents his debut offering entitled 'Re-Entry'. Emotive and charming in equal measure, i's near three minute intro is a harmonic haze of indistinct vocals and sparse yet soulful instrumentation. The earthy, organic storyboard immediately draws you in as melodic clusters form, eventually building to a gentle yet exhilarating crescendo. With more new music on the way, expect to be hearing a lot from Eric Lune. A highly reflective piece to round out another excellent installment of Sound Avenue's Sampler series.
