Various Artists – Strangers 3 [Or Two Strangers]

The latest release from Antrim’s Or Two Strangers finds the label presenting the third installment of its ‘Strangers’ series. Conceptualized in 2019, the inaugural edition featured some of progressive music’s most highly touted artists alongside talented newcomers. This cohesive blend resulted in a collection that touched on the deeper more organic spectrums of the genre, all the way up to its more traditional peak time flavored melodies. 2020 saw the series return in resounding fashion with standout selections from Claudio Cornejo, Nicolas Rada & Antrim and Kamilo Sanclemente. Now continuing the series as 2021 reaches its fourth quarter, label boss Antrim has once again curated the third edition which features new music from: Sebastian Haas & Ignacio Corazza, Nico Sparvieri & Esteban Romano, Claudio Cornejo (AR), Juan Sapia and Antrim himself.

Hailing from London and Argentina respectively, it is Sebastian Haas & Ignacio Corazza which get the collection underway. Both well known in the progressive music scene, the duo’s combined discography features standout releases for BCSA, Freegrant Music, JOOF Recordings, Massive Harmony Records and Strangers Beats. Now coming together for a special collaboration, Sebastian and Ignacia make their Or Two Strangers debut with the deep and groovy sounds of ‘Stoned Dreams’.

Selection two finds Nico Sparvieri & Esteban Romano making their label debut and presenting their first collaboration. Both based in Argentina, Esteban is at the beginning of his production journey, while Nico lays claim to over a decade's worth of production credits, most notably for One Of A Kind, Massive Harmony Records, Soundteller Records and Stripped Digital. Having taken a hiatus which dates back to 2017, Nico returns for his first production in four years, teaming up with Esteban on the delightfully deep ‘Encounters’.

Returning to the label and delivering the third selection is Claudio Cornejo. The Argentinean artist has been one of his country’s brightest progressive music talents. Either operating in solo capacity or as one half of Analog Jungs, the Cordoba resident has long been a favourite of progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also landing releases on Beat Boutique, Clubsonica Records, Droid9, and The Soundgarden. Having delivered one of the standout selections on the ‘Strangers 2’ collection last year, Claudio now provides the mystical sounds of ‘Amasis’ for the series’ third edition.

Selection four finds Juan Sapia returning to the label for his second appearance. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Argentina, the Buenos Aires resident has been on a steady rise since first appearing in 2017. As a favourite of world class DJs Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, Juan has compiled an impressive resume, landing releases on top tier imprints such as The Soundgarden and Sudbeat. Having made his Or Two Strangers debut in 2019 with the well-received ‘Magic Moon’ EP, Juan now returns to the label with the peak time sounds of ‘The Runner’.

The release concludes with Or Two Strangers label boss Antrim providing the collection’s anchor piece. On the strength of a great year in 2020, the Cordoba resident has gone on to continue that momentum throughout 2021. The release of his Clubsonica single ‘Huffnung’ got the year underway in style, perfectly setting up his debut album ‘Beat2Be’ via Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, while also recording EPs for Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank his own Or Two Strangers imprint. Now fresh off a remix for much loved Italian artist Gai Barone, Antrim returns to his home label with the classy sounds of ‘Loose Soul’. Beautifully interwoven melodies with timeless execution make it the ideal closing piece for another excellent installment of the ‘Strangers’ series. Don’t miss it.
