For their second release Nature Rec unveils the first installment of their 'Nature VA' series. After launching the label with Kamilo Sanclemente's excellent 'Jadhe' the label now explores the concept of progressive over four unique tracks. Nature Rec looks at the term from it's definition of evolution, development, change, transformation and the inherent stages of existence itself. The compilation series will strive for an audible interpretation of these concepts from a musical perspective. Featured on the first edition are (in order of appearance) Arnold T & Alain Pauwels, Christian Monique, Dylan Deck & Shanil Alox and Andre Moret.

Hailing from France and Belgium respectively it is Arnold T and Alain Pauwels who get the release underway with 'Ginger Mercury'. Emanating positivity from the outset, it's bassy pulses, crunchy rhythms and glowing atmospheres make for an inviting canvas. Tight yet playful arps push momentum across the first act, as smooth chord changes and emerging overlays provide a tasteful apex, before the main break resets the groove for a driving finale. Already featured by Hernan Cattaneo in episode 447 of his Resident Podcast you know it's one not to miss.

Next up is Christian Monique who makes his label debut following strong releases for Bevel Rec., Droid9 Limited and Stellar Fountain. A firm favourite of many progressive music fans, the Italian artist delivers another standout production here in 'Rain Spirits'. Percussive and brooding, the piece moves through mystical motifs and chunky grooves, before a well timed break melds vocal choirs and gaseous atmospheres for an unforgettable audio college.

The EP's second collaboration follows with Dylan Deck & Shanil Alox presenting the excellent 'Malgudi'. Hailing from Malta and Sri Lanka respectively, the duo craft a peak time progressive cut with a cosmic environment. Dark and groovy from the outset, it’s effervescent effects and rising atmospherics add nicely to it’s muscular rhythmic core. The narrative then evolves across an otherworldly break, as indistinct vocals and hopeful pads further saturate your senses, before the beats drop for a commanding finish.

Rounding out the release is one of Brazil's premiere progressive house talents Andre Moret. Hailing from São Paulo but now based in Campinas, Andre has enjoyed an incredible 2020, highlighted by releases on Balkan Connection, Clubsonica Records and Transensations Records. Now making his Nature Rec. debut Andre presents his latest studio creation 'Aruanda'. It’s perfectly manicured groove is incredibly buoyant; nicely carved and characterized by undulating rolls. Energetic and hopeful, it provides an ideal foundation for waves of percussion and trance inducing arps to elevate mood across the first act. The main break advances the narrative further, as soulful instrumentation descends over a blend of melody and colour, before perfectly segueing into a smooth final act. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Nature Rec, who have certainly captured the spirit of progressive house and set the course for what promises to be an amazing 2021 for the label. Highly recommended.
