Releases Various Artists – GLBLMVMT6 (Exploring Colombia) [Movement Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 17th July 2023 10 min read 0 1 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release on Tash's Movement Recordings finds the label showcasing the sixth installment of its 'GLBLMVMT' series. These region-specific compilations were first unveiled in 2018 with Federico Monachesi curating the progressive hotbed of Argentina. Moving forward, the label has unveiled a new edition each year, with Cyprus, India, France and Sri Lanka being the chosen destinations, expertly curated by Paul and Don, Aaryan, Wielki and Kyotto across the next four years. Now unveiling the sixth and much anticipated edition, Movement calls upon NuFects to curate the talent-rich region of Colombia with exclusive music from (in order of appearance): Gux Jimenez, Arbey Gonzalez, Leo Guerrero, NuFects, Suntech & Jhonny LP, Armandhe and Cut Knob. Getting the release underway is Gux Jimenez who has been a fixture of his country's electronic music movement for over a decade. Best known for his emotive take on the progressive genre, the Cartagena resident has showcased his music via trendsetting landing spots such as Clubsonica, Juicebox, Mango Alley, Proton's Particles, UV and his own OzLand imprint, while earning support from world class DJs Above & Beyond and Armin Van Buuren. Now, adding Movement Recordings to his resume, Gux debuts on the label with the emotive sounds of 'Follow Me'. Hailing from Cali, Arbey Gonzalez first emerged just two years ago on the strength of releases via Balkan Connection, Deepwibe Underground, Nature Rec., Soundteller Records, The Purr and more. The fast rising phenom would quickly establish himself amongst Colombia's strong progressive scene and become a sought after remixer as a result. Also finding a home on Movement earlier this year with 'Rocking Stereo', a well received collaboration with fellow countryman Paul Lennar, Arbey now makes a return to the label with the deep organic sounds of 'Frana'. Selection three finds Leo Guerrero making his label debut with 'Bashmet'. The Medellin resident is perhaps best known for being one half of the trance duo Smokers Area, a project which ran for the better part of decade, before eventually disbanding in 2018. New inspirations led Leo to progressive music where he restarted his production journey under his own name, while finding a home on Clubsonica, Sprout, Strangers Beats and more. Continuing on this explorative path, the Medellin resident now adds Movement Recordings to his portfolio with the groovy sounds of 'Bashmet'. Collection curators NuFects are next with 'Fractals' which lands in the fourth spot. Conceptualized in 2013, Colombian artists Alejo Cortes and Carlos Lopez aka NuFects decided to undertake a project full of energy, joy, colour and intrigue. They started producing progressive and organic house under the name NuFects (short for The New Effect), quickly earning recognition from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc, along with very important local talents Dabeat, Gux Jimenez and Kamilo Sanclemente, while legends like Paul Oakenfold and Solarstone playlisted their music. Having closed out 2022 with their Movement Recordings vehicle 'Demons & Slayers', Nufects makes a welcome return to the label with the electric sounds of 'Fractals'. Making their label debut with selection five is Suntech & Johnny LP. Whether working in tandem or in solo capacity, the Colombian duo have been two of their country's premiere progressive house talents. The Medellín residents continue to find favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while also branching out for releases via Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and their own Onestar imprint. Movement Recordings is the latest landing spot for this talented duo, as they make their label debut with progressive grooves of 'Parseltongue'. The collection's sixth selection is provided by Armandhe who makes his label debut. Upon creating the Armandhe moniker in 2018, the Colombian artist has enjoyed a steady rise through the progressive underground. Releases courtesy of Balkan Connection, Clubsonica, Droid9, Nature, Onestar Records and Sprout have all been sensational. Always emphasizing quality over quantity, Armandhe makes his Movement Recordings debut with the deep sounds of 'Feromona'. Rounding out the release is Cut Knob who collaborate with collection curators NuFects on 'Naamá'. As studio partners for over a decade, BoomCardona and Diego Gómez aka Cut Knob have taken their progressive sound to Mistique Music, Stellar Fountain and more. 2023 saw the duo return from a five-year hiatus with a release via Colombian imprint Ozland Music. Now, joining forces with NuFects, Cut Knob continue their resurgence with the peak time vibes of 'Naamá'.
