The Amsterdam Dance Event has become one of electronic music's most important annual gatherings. One where a wide variety of artists, DJ's, event promoters and industry brands are showcased over the week-long event. Long a testing ground for some of the fall season's most anticipated releases, Clubsonica presents a fresh selection of music from (in order of appearance) Parallel Universe, Zoeken, Aeikus, Jose Tabarez and Jhonny LP. Hailing from Colombia and leading the collection off is Parallel Universe with their latest creation entitled 'Mirror'. Although a new name in the progressive underground, the Colombian artists are already starting to turn heads and his contribution here only furthers that narrative. Beginning with punchy beats and a tightly knit core its dynamic appeal is undeniable. Aquatic arps and shuffly drums add waves of momentum as ghostly vocals trail through the framework. Playful chord stabs highlight the first act, leading to a break of cascading themes, before building to a powerful crescendo that your dance floor won't soon forget. The second selection welcomes yet another rising talent from Colombia: Zoeken. The Bogota resident makes his Clubsonica debut in grand fashion with his most anticipated production to date in 'Fractal'. Sitting comfortably on the melodic side of techno the piece begins with spiralling arps, airy vocal motifs and piercing tones, which resonate wonderfully over an energetic framework. The main break further expands the narrative as the arp opens up into an all encompassing cosmic vortex before melting down to a deadly drop. Athos Araujo aka Aeikus is no stranger to Clubsonica having made his label debut in May of this year. The well received 'Talk About Stars' EP set in motion what promises to be an exciting chapter in the Brazilians' career. It continues in fine style here with his contribution entitled 'Nostalgia'. Spirited and melancholic in equal measure it's a piece built on introspective emotions and meditative drive. Astral designs steal the air, growing exponentially through tasteful modulation before reaching an effervescent sizzle. The second act develops beautifully as a maze of electronic clusters burrow further into your subconscious, before getting washed away in a tasteful transition of buoyant beats and hypnotizing arps. The journey continues with one of progressive music's long standing artists: Jose Tabarez. The Hungarian born, UK based producer has earned praise throughout the underground for his quirky style and timely releases. His Clubsonica debut comes amidst much anticipation and does not disappoint as he unveils one of his most cutting edge creations in 'Puzzle'. From its deliberate beats to low slung groove and psychedelic effects the first act immediately appeases the senses. Shifting energy into the main break, hopeful atmospheres rise amidst a wave of sonic decay before a fuzzed out apex seals it's dramatic appeal. The release concludes with Jhonny LP returning to the label following his remix (in co-operation with Suntech) of Armandhe's 'Ozadya' from July of this year. Born in Florencia and now based in Medellin, the Colombian artist follows an EP for Fernando Olaya's Sonnet Speciale with his latest original entitled 'The Founders'. Sitting as the most emotive piece on the collection its reflective moods are both joyous and thought provoking. Backed by a warm groove and organic percussion, a blissful top line melds with fuzzy harmonics and rolling rhythms. It's the ultimate sonic marriage perhaps, resulting in a concise six minute journey to round the release out on a strong note.
