Deepwibe Underground begins the new year by welcoming Teleport-X back to the label for a new EP. The Argentinean artist appeared on the Estonian label three times across 2020, making the imprint his primary home. Adding to what was his best year to date were releases on Droid9 Limited, Just Movement and Suprematic. Now starting the new year off in style Teleport-X lands back on Deepwibe Underground with 'Omega', alongside a remix from K Loveski.

Spread across three tracks it’s the progressive techno crossover sound of the title cut which leads the EP off. Dark and punchy from the outset it’s robust low end and crisp percussion make an immediate impact, while buzzing arps and sweeping effects fill in the framework. Smooth chord changes advance the narrative into emotive territory, before becoming fully realized during a breakbeat fuelled centrepiece and gigantic final movement. Continuing with ‘Vortex’ Teleport-X follows a similar sonic ethos with a tough, percussive slice of cosmic progressive house. Once again backed by a dark, muscular groove, it's a series of emotive swells and charming overlays which offsets its crunchy drive for a perfect balance of colour and texture. The main break adds further musicality through gentle cascades and warm bass swells, expertly melting down to a glowing purr, before a timely rush summons the beats for a poignant final movement. The third and final original ‘We Are’ follows suit with more of an esoteric narrative. It’s backbone of punchy beats creates a big presence as buzzing stabs, fiery percussion and striking tonal design fully saturate your senses. Building with a veteran’s savvy, it’s emotional narrative eventually open up, as pensive pads descend over percolating effects and sweeping noise. A spoken word motif highlights the main break, drawing on cinematic sensibilities and perfectly setting up a driving finale.

Rounding out the release and providing the lone interpretation of ‘Omega’ is K Loveski who makes his label debut. The Russian artist has continued to rise in the progressive music landscape, earning support from Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J, while landing releases on Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Balance Music. Now getting 2021 underway in style he provides a groovy interpretation of 'Omega'. The tempo shifts down and the groove opens up for a feel good, hip swinging journey. Flurries of effects, fragmented vocals, and spacey arps work in perfect sonic unison, while rising atmospheres coming out of the break make for an unforgettable finale. A massive remix from K Loveski which gets 2021 off to an amazing start for Deepwibe Underground. Highly recommended.
