Releases Tash – Sepia [ICONYC] By Release Promo Posted on 24th June 2017 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release on John Johnson's ICONYC imprint finds the label welcoming Tash for his debut single. When not running his excellent Movement Recordings imprint or planning some of his country's biggest events the Greek artist does find time to craft the occasional dance floor bomb. He's certainly achieved that here with 'Sepia' alongside remixes from SEQU3l, Clameres and Alejandro Manso. Tash's long term DJ career and time behind the decks has given him a great sense of dance floor dynamics. 'Sepia' is definitely geared in that direction as well with strong rhythmic elements, a smooth melodious groove and healthy complement of sweeping effects. It's a bit more airy than perhaps we're used to from Tash and it's quite refreshing, very summery with some plucky motifs adding a lovely musicality. Perhaps one of his all time best and one you're bound to be hearing a lot in the coming months. As usual John and ICONYC have put together an all-star remixer cast with SEQU3l leading the way with a spectacular rendition. Smooth, flowy and full of ultra-cool vibes it's just one of those productions that accomplishes a lot with great flow and warm, inviting design. The gradual build really sucks you in as well with dynamic claps adding sparks of electricity along the way. Likely SEQU3l's best ever remix and my favourite version on the release as well. Next up Clameres of Colorize and Macarize fame goes a bit deeper and more mystical in approach. The results are excellent and complement the previous two versions really well. The murky, dubbed out groove is quite unique and the drum elements sound fresh but what really surprises you is how it drops down into the main elements in the break. Unexpected in a way and a definite rush of emotion comes over the whole track as a result. Lovely remix from Clameres. The release concludes with Alejandro Manso who is well known for his versatility. Sometimes drawing on both techno and progressive influences depending on what the situation calls for. Here he opts for the latter with a deep, pulsating and monumentally groovy rework. Scattered drums and intricate effects standout big time here, very creative and although the main themes don't really get explored until the third act the mix is all the better for it. A real beauty from Alejandro which closes out a perfect release for John Johnson's ICONYC imprint. Highly Recommended.
