The Russian trio made their debut on the Croatian imprint in March of 2015 with their well received 'Side Effect' EP. Also laying claim to releases on John OO Fleming's JOOF Recordings and JOOF Mantra, the trio's cross pollinated sound continues to excite electronic music fans around the globe. Now beginning 2019 in fine form, Spintribe & Zirrex return to Mistique Music with a brand new two track artist EP. Spintribe & Zirrex have always been highly regarded for their meticulous production and fresh design qualities. With one foot in the psy-trance scene and the other in contemporary progressive house what you get is a very unique and dance floor friendly hybrid. ‘Modular’ is a perfect example of that with its tough yet spongy beats, crunchy electronics and esoteric themes. The lead motif is downright deadly; coming to full fruition during the main break, it's nasally quality it a sensory delight, pushing the sonic envelope further before intelligently layered beats drop for a hugely rhythmic finale. Fresh and inspired music from Spintribe & Zirrex. The companion piece 'Back Drop Of Normality' follows suit with a similar and monumentally groovy narrative. Thick slabs of bass power forward as tonal themes and buzzing effects fill in the framework. The emphasis on rhythm and groove is apparent with an amazing sense of space allowing the psychedelic audio college to move freely above the robust foundation. As the main break commences a cluster of gnarly stabs creates tension and electricity, before getting offset with beaming electronics, perfectly setting up a playfully melodic third act.
