Sonderzug – From Nothing (Soulkraft)

The latest release on Soulkraft Music finds label boss Sonderzug back in the spotlight with a brand new EP. We last heard from the Austrian artist with the 'Lanoria' single, which was released in January of this year. Sonderzug has become a staple in Beatport's progressive house charts since his debut in 2015, with his last 4 EP releases climbing well inside the Progressive House top ten. Now following a five month break the Austrian artist presents his latest two track offering entitled 'From Nothing'.

The title track shines from the outset with crisp beats, deliberate drums and a wavering atmospheric theme. Phasing harmonics fade into the mix along with an intriguing vocal sample and shimmering melodies. It's a magical combination but it lasts for just a moment as the drop strips things back for a powerful first act. As the breakdown commences the waves of bliss return initiating a second and quite strong vocal narrative. Smooth chords bring a rushy energy out of the break before the dreamy elements return for a strong finish.

The companion piece 'White Swan' comes in energetic, fun and a touch funky. Old school synths combined with a romping bass line and buzzing electronics lift the vibe nicely before cascading trails add a magic touch. Indistinct vocals bring a mysterious air, panning back and forth with trippy abandon, making for an intense break, building nicely into an energetic finale. Two timeless progressive cuts from Sonderzug which makes for another stellar offering from his Soulkraft imprint. Highly Recommended.
