Having made his Deepwibe Underground debut in December, the Spanish artist earned play and support from progressive music tastemaker Hernan Cattaneo. Now returning to the label for a much anticipated follow-up, Roman presents a new two track showcase entitled 'Carina'. The pure progressive sensibility’s of Roman’s ‘Mahasim’ EP gets continued here with the title track ‘Carina’. Warm beats, fluid rhythms and a deep thumping bass line unite for a powerful core, while creamy tones and piercing stabs add mightily to its groovy nature. Sweeping effects, emotive chord changes and processed pianos shift the narrative further into poignant territory as the main break commences. Melting down to warm glow of electronics the centerpiece captivates with it's simplistic beauty, perfectly setting up a smooth drop and gorgeous finale. The smooth energy continues with the companion piece ‘Boulder City’. It’s deliberate kicks and tight core provide a perfect balance of rhythm and drive. Glassy arps and hopeful overlays marry well, ultimately leading to the drop of a massive bassline. Full steam ahead, the arps continue to open amidst a haze of atmosphere and effects, before a striking melodic lead highlights the break, perfectly setting up a chugging finale. With the 'Carina' EP Roman continues to impress with two tracks that have found favour with a long line of progressive music tastemakers, setting the stage nicely for the release of his upcoming album.
