Rokazer – Cutana EP [Soundteller Records]

Fast rising French producer Rokazer debuts on Deersky's Soundteller Records with 'Cutana'. It's been a fruitful time in the career of the Paris resident with 2021 being highlighted by releases for Beatfreak Limited, Freegrant Music and Mirabilis Records. Rokazer's fresh take on all things progressive house and melodic techno has now found it's way to Poland's premiere imprint with a two track showcase.

Beginning with the title selection, Rokazer crafts an electric slice of progressive house that’s nicely dialled for the dance floor. Smooth and energetic throughout, it carries a darker sensibility at the outset but as it moves through layers of detailed percussion, cutting edge effects and astral arps there is a unique emotional response. Powerful chord changes leading into the main break keep the narrative rising, before a more distinct melodic lead segues the piece into a purring finale.

The release concludes with the deep, groovy vibes of ‘Adara’. Played out over seven minutes, it’s pulsating bassline, crunchy rhythms and devilish effects work beautifully together. A smooth atmospheric rise is the icing on the cake however, subtly adding emotional touches and spine-tingling moments as the first act evolves. Emerging arps then fade in and out of coherence, perfectly complementing the mountainous groove, before a timely break advances adds further depth through haunting overlays and tense yet tasteful modulation. It rounds out a huge Soundteller debut for Rokazer, who continues to rise in the world of progressive house and melodic house & techno. Highly recommended.
