Rockka & Dr Green – Suspect [SLC-6 Music]

D.J. MacIntyre’s SLC-6 Music closes out the spring season by presenting a new single from Rockka and Dr Green. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Rockka aka Lakith Adikaram has been releasing his own unique style of progressive music for the better part of three years. Making his mark through a series of Mango Alley releases featuring deep and atmospheric grooves, Rockka demonstrated his mastery, paving the way for a notable ascent in his early career. Although younger than most of his contemporaries, the Nugegoda resident impressed going forward, quickly landing projects with Clubsonica, SLC-6 Music and Yomo Records, amongst others. Meanwhile, also hailing from Sri Lanka, Daniel Claessen aka Dr Green has been one of SLC-6's core artists since making his debut in 2022 with a contribution to the SIX: Stage-11 collection. The next three calendar years would see Daniel deliver an additional thirteen discography credits for the American imprint, while also finding a home on Balkan Connection, Droid9 and La Foresta, amongst others. With Dr Green having remixed Rockka’s ‘Black Sands’ for SLC-6 last year, the duo now return to the label with their first collaborative single ‘Suspect’, alongside remixes from Mindlanholic and Oreiente.

The original mix lands in electric fashion, bringing the best production hallmarks of both artists, as they craft a peaktime slice of progressive house. Constructed with the dancefloor in mind, the duo's punchy kick drums, vibrant percussion and charged bass lines set the foundation for squelchy synth mutations and deconstructed vocals stabs to set a lively mainroom vibe, before a rich cinematic break resets the mood for a big and mystical finale. Returning to the label for the first interpretation of 'Suspect' is Mindlanholic. Famed for releases via Freegrant Music, Progressive House Argentina and Transensations, the Peruvian born, Spain based artist opts for a driving hypnotic approach, one which takes square aim at the darker dance floors with rolling grooves, prophetic vocal samples, glassy arps and an emotional break, the latter of which is sure to create some memorable club moments across the impending summer season. The release concludes with Oreiente making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of ‘Suspect’. Although just two short years into his production career, the Sri Lankan artist has already achieved measurable success, recording projects for Magnitude Recordings and Mango Alley. Continuing to build an impressive resume, Oreiente's ‘Suspect’ interpretation keeps the orignal’s pure progressive vibe, while opting for a more spacious groovy approach which should sit perfectly in the heart of a broad range of DJ sets.
