REX & LYDA – Pink Sands (Remixed) [Soundteller Records]

The latest release from Deersky's Soundteller Records finds the label showcasing new interpretations of 'Pink Sands' by REX & LYDA. Released in January of this year, it found the Colombian duo crafting a classic slice of progressive house with emotive vocals and strong melodic themes. Now looking to bring new life to the track, Soundteller invites  Andy King, Domingo + & Loveclub and Juan Ibanez to re-invent the track for the upcoming summer season.

Soundteller artist Andy King is first up and makes his fourth appearance on the label. The UK producer follows on from the 2021 release of 'Summer Solitude' with a smooth, progressive rework that brings more of an underground feel to the track. Full, thumping grooves lead the way for billowing stabs, trippy effects and lively arps to work some serious magic. Essentially operating as a Dub, the vocal does get reprocessed into some lovely textural bliss, which radiates across the break and ultimately sets up a fiery finale.

Next up are long standing progressive artists Domingo + and The Love Club who are famed in the USA for their productions across the last three decades. Working together once recently for Proton's Particles, they come together again for Soundteller with a deeper, rolling interpretation that manages to merge the gap between organic and progressive house. The tempo shifts down a touch for a groovier, trippier version that teases the heavily effected vocal across the first act, before a subversive break perfectly sets up a monumentally groovy finale. This is very reminiscent of something Sasha would have played back in the day, think GU Ibiza and you're not far off. A wicked remix from Domingo + and The Love Club.

The release concludes with Juan Ibanez returning to the label with a peak time style rework. The Argentine's penchant for crafting big productions is well noted and he does so again here. The feel good vibes are high throughout and unlike the previous two versions, Juan lets more of the vocal ride in all its glory, first during a short interlude and then during a haunting break which sets up a finale where a classic sounding acid line marries really well with the vocal. A huge interpretation from Juan which caps off an excellent remix edition of REX & LYDA's 'Pink Sands. Definitely one to look out for as we enter into the spring and summer party seasons. Highly recommended.
