Ran Salman – Force Majeure / Escape [Beat Boutique]

Ran Salman returns to DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique for his first EP 'Force Majeure / Escape'. Having debuted on the label in 2015 with a remix of Andrea Bertolini's 'Improvvisazione #4', the Tel Aviv resident has since appeared on the Israeli imprint three additional times. Also laying claim to releases on Atlant, Movement, Sudam and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Ran now lands back on Beat Boutique for his first artist showcase.

The EP begins with the powerful 'Force Majeure'. It’s warm, rolling low end is full of character and contour, while exotic drums and lively percussion operate in organic space. As the narrative evolves buzzing synths and tonal fragments drift through the framework, before smoothly segueing into a spacious break. Tense and remarkably well crafted, the centrepiece builds through mind bending modulation, before reaching a sizzling peak as the groove drops for a big moment.

The companion piece 'Escape' is equally excellent and sits as an ideal complement to it's predecessor. Cosmic in design and hypnotic in delivery, acidic rhythms, percussive splashes and electric synths slowly engulf the framework, carrying the piece into a heady second act. As the groove strips down, timely effects and striking stabs steal the air, converging for dynamic moments before a devilish build during the main break seals it's brilliance. Two monstrous tracks from Ran, both fresh and modern with a great nose for the dance floor. More killer music from DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique that's not to be missed. Highly recommended.
