The German artist has become a primary contributor to the American imprint, having delivered two remixes and an EP over the last 28 months. Now looking to further develop his Purple Kaiser alias, the Berlin resident returns to ICONYC with 'Purple Cycles'. With a greater focus on uplifting melodies and melodic grooves, Kaiser further dials in the ethos of this new alias with 'Purple Cycles'. Dark and menacing from the outset, it's tough beats, growling electronics and devilish effects make a profound statement early. Saying the production is razor sharp would be understatement, as every sound is perfectly processed for maximum impact and sonic sorcery. The narrative does shift into more emotive territory though, with a wavy lead line and placid pads striking up a near perfect marriage across the main break, only to be washed away in a sea of dystopian artefacts and punishing beats. 'See The Lights' follows suit with a greater sense of drive and tempo. A touch warmer as well, it's hypnotic lead and quirky metallics create a unique sense of flow across the first act, ultimately leading to a spirited break of ominous phrasing. It's this change of mood which delights the mind and no doubt a dance floor as well, with the beats dropping in a timely manner and resetting the narrative on wards to a thrilling finale. As Kaiser continues to build his Purple Kaiser alias, ICONYC appears to be an ideal label to call a home base, as both of these selections are sure to resonate strongly with their ever growing fan base.
