Peres – Bllen [Soundteller Records]

Peres returns to Deersky's Soundteller Records with a follow-up to last years 'Planets'. Landing in November, the three-track showcase marked the Polish artists debut on the Polish imprint. It followed two releases for Mistique Music which ended a six-year hiatus for Peres, who had previously released the majority of his material through LuPS Records. Now, as 2022 begins Peres returns to Soundteller with 'Bllen', alongside remixes from EL1AX and Paul Hamilton.

Coming in at just a shade over nine minutes, the original mix sets the tone with a trippy, DJ friendly intro. Tough beats and devilish effects get juxtaposed with hopeful pads and a rugged, floor shaking groove. Flickering percussion and luminous tones add depth and drive across the first movement, eventually giving way to a glowing, cinematic style break which ultimately sets the stage for a tranquil finale.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Bllen' is EL1AX. Hailing from India but currently calling Seattle USA home, Elias Attumally aka EL1AX made his Soundteller debut in August of last year with the three track 'Rainer' EP. It was just his second release under the EL1AX moniker, which followed a contribution to Juicebox Music's Tales of Time Chapter 2 collection. Now, continuing to build a bond with Soundteller, EL1AX returns to the Polish imprint with a stellar take on 'Bllen'. Carrying the tranquil spirit of the original, the Indian artist provides a sleeker option, running through the same liquid-like arps and calming atmospheres, while dubbing down the more gnarly effects of the original, ultimately resulting in a smooth and satisfying alternative.

The release concludes with Paul Hamilton returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Bllen'. Born in Malta and now based in Dubai, Paul has firmly etched his place in the progressive scene, finding a home on Armada, Balkan Connection, Droid9, Freegrant Music and Mango Alley, while his equally impressive DJ skills have seen him perform at Ministry Of Sound (Dubai) and Godskitchen (Dubai). No stranger to Soundteller, Paul has appeared on the Polish imprint four times in the past, with the most recent being in April of last year. Now as 2022 begins to take shape, Paul returns to the label with a groovy rendition of 'Bllen'. Warm, rich and full of great character, it's framework provides the perfect vehicle for fragmented elements from the original to work their magic. It’s nose for the dance floor makes it a great complement to it’s more song based counter part, while a concise yet heartfelt break should captivate all the dreamers out there. A lovely remix from Paul which rounds out a superb release for Soundteller to begin the year. Don't miss it.
