Releases Paul Sawyer – Neptune [ICONYC] By Release Promo Posted on 11th May 2019 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin John Johnson's ICONYC adds more quality talent to the label, welcoming Paul Sawyer for his debut single 'Neptune'. The UK artist has been a fixture of the progressive house underground since first appearing in 2013. A string of releases on his own Krafted Recordings imprint set the stage for outings on Balkan Connection, Pro-B-Tech Records and Toolroom. Now embarking on his most anticipated project to date, Paul debuts on ICONYC alongside remixes from DJ AroZe and Rafa'EL. Paul's affinity for crafting timeless progressive house has never been more evident than on ‘Neptune’. Backed by a spacious, low slung groove and chunky rhythmic structures, it’s a creation that flows through a myriad of fresh designs and melodic motifs. Compelling throughout, fiery stabs and astral arps converge for moments of sonic bliss, while timely synth swells and emerging atmospheres only add to it's effervescent charm. A timely break proves to the be the tipping point, with bassy rumblings and fuzzed out stabs providing dramatic moments, before a classy drop ushers in a smooth finale. The first interpretation of ‘Neptune' is provided by ICONYC label artist DJ AroZe. The Israeli producer made his label debut in January of this year with the well received 'Northern Tales' EP. Also laying claim to releases on Plattenbank, Soundteller Records and Suffused Music, AroZe now returns to ICONYC for just his second ever remix and first for the label. Tough, pulsating and laced with fiery effects, the creation builds across seven magical minutes. Cosmic arps fade to the forefront as percussive flurries and charged rhythms continue to build momentum into the break. Spacey and poignant in equal measure, it's a centrepiece that delivers both emotion and drama, before one final rush sparks a euphoric conclusion. The second and final interpretation of ‘Neptune’ is provided by Rafa'EL who returns to the label for his third appearance. The Polish artist has been a mainstay of the progressive scene for many years, finding a home on a bevy of top imprints, including Afterglow, Soundteller Records, Sound Avenue and Proton's Particles. Now following releases for Electronic Tree and MNL, Rafa'EL returns to ICONYC with a stellar rendition of 'Neptune' to round the release out in style. Possessing more of a deep undercurrent, it’s bulbous bass tones move through moments of emotional energy, while exotic percussion and freeform harmonics create a compelling canopy of sound. Ghostly pads and a less distinct take on the arps play off each other wonderfully, before a well crafted break advances the narrative, effortlessly transferring energy into a final act which is sure to send your dance floor home with a smile. A classy remix from Rafa'EL which caps off a hugely successful ICONYC debut for Paul Sawyer. Highly recommended.
