Scientists estimate that more than 90% of ocean species have not been identified, and more than 2000 new marine species are discovered every year, which goes to show just how vast these underwater realms truly are. Shockingly, less than 3% of the ocean is fully protected, which results in overfishing, bottom trawling, and other destructive activities that continue to wreak havoc on the ocean.
