Ozgur Ozkan – Strange [Beat Boutique]

Dj Zombi's Beat Boutique returns welcoming Ozgur Ozkan to the label for a brand new single. The Turkish artist last appeared on the Israeli imprint in December of 2017 with his 'As We Awake / Spirit Of Ida' EP in collaboration with Nissim Gavriel. Now following a release on Northern Lights Music, Ozkan lands back on Beat Boutique with 'Strange' alongside remixes from Purple Pill and Paul Angelo & Don Argento.

With a long history in progressive music Ozgur’s new material is always highly anticipated and after a near six month wait ‘Strange’ does not disappoint. Built around a smooth, groovy framework it’s evolving atmospheres and soulful motifs quickly win you over. Quite mystical sounding in many ways, there’s a spirited essence running through the piece, ultimately getting fully realized during the main break as a spoken word vocal burrows deep into your subconscious. A highly memorable creation from Ozgur once again.

The first interpretation of ‘Strange’ is provided by Purple Pill who are fresh off making their label debut just two weeks ago. The Israeli duo are hotly tipped at the moment with a fresh progressive sound that incorporates ethnic elements. Their take on ‘Strange’ follows suit, upping the tempo and opening the groove for a perfect dance floor rendition. Once again subtle ethnic motifs and afro drums highlight the framework while a well constructed break builds a fiery tension, perfectly setting up a deadly drop.

The release concludes with Paul Angelo & Don Argento making their label debut and providing the final interpretation of ‘Strange’. Now regarded as an in demand act, the Cyprus based duo have certainly found their place in the progressive underground this year. Their energetic, dance floor minded productions continue to to feature in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and their interpretation of ‘Strange’ may be headed there as well. Dark, groovy and a touch mysterious it’s a creation which quickly captures your imagination, before a dramatic break tips the scales of tension just enough to ensure a great reaction from your dance floor.
