Releases Open Solaris – The Shores of Oceanus [Bevel Rec] By Release Promo Posted on 30th August 2019 4 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Nipocra’s Bevel Rec. returns welcoming Open Solaris to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Ottawa, the Canadian artist arrived on the progressive house underground in June of 2018 with a remix of Ducharme's 'Orchid', before eventually contributing a track to Clinique's 2019 Summer Sampler in July. Now landing on Bevel Rec, Open Solaris presents his first ever artist EP entitled 'The Shores of Oceanus'. The title track comes in quite pacey and is clearly geared for peak time play. It's rolling rhythms and fiery drive are undeniable while two musical themes intertwine as the first act evolves. The main break brings deeper more meditative moments, before big swells and a timely roll spark anticipation for a driving finale. The companion piece 'Afterlife' comes in a touch more techno inspired, again with intense drive and percussive waves that power the piece. It’s energetic presence quickly becomes intoxicating, with a warm underbelly flowing through smooth chord changes, adding emotion to it's gritty design. Haunting and tense, the centrepiece brings further drama with dynamic hits and a wave of noise ushering in a powerful drop. it rounds out two excellent cuts from the up and coming Canadian who is certain an artist to keep a close eye on moving forward.
