Matter debuts on Canada's Strange Town Recordings with 'Everything, So Young' ft. Graham Baxter. As one of Australia's premiere progressive house talents, Matty Doyle aka Matter lays claim to an impressive discography. The Melbourne resident has showcased his music on Anjunadeep, Proton, Cid Inc's Replug Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now as the summer season begins, Matter lands on Strange Town with a new single alongside remixes from Sonic Union and Simos Tagias.

For those unfamiliar with Graham Baxter he is better known as part of the Canadian act Flowers & Sea Creatures. The Montreal resident provides the vocals here and what magic they bring to this sleek, hypnotic gem of a track. Soul and emotion come to mind, with breathy wails and fragmented phrases getting lost in Matter's unique blend of melody and colour. Deep and fluid throughout, it’s airy motifs and redolent designs are mysterious yet emotive, backed by a warm, pulsating groove, underpinning the track and translating it’s spiritual message to the dance floor. A stunning collaboration and also one of, if not the first Matter vocal project if memory serves correctly here.

Sonic Union provides the first remix following releases for Mango Alley and his own Lowbit Records imprint. The Sweden born, UK based artist provides a driving, progressive version the draws nicely from the original. The groove opens up as does the tempo for a full yet remarkably spacious sounding rendition. Graham's vocals breathe wonderfully throughout, particularly during a stripped second act bridge which perfectly preludes a meditative finale.

Rounding the release out and providing the second and final remix of 'Everything, So Young' is Simos Tagias. The Greek artist is fresh off a well received collaboration with fellow progressive house pundit Golan Zocher and also has an EP dropping on Beatfreak Recordings this week as well. Always a creative remixer, Simos injects a serious dose of electricity into this one with drummy waves, hazy harmonic concepts and one hell of a dramatic break. Peak time would be an apt term but it's so much more than that, the way the vocals get lost in an unrelenting wave of sonics makes for a very satisfying listen. Highly recommended.
