Lemon8 – A Better Place (Remixes) [Soundteller Records]

The latest release on Deersky's Soundteller Records finds the label presenting new interpretations of 'A Better Place' by Lemon8. Originally released in 2019 and remixed by Andrea Cassino and D-Nox & Zac, it marked a return to prominence for the storied Dutch artist, who is forever etched in progressive music lore for his releases via Bedrock and Silver Planet. Lemon8 sits in the spotlight once again, as Soundteller invites Andy King and Subandrio to re-imagine 'A Better Place' for the winter season.

With Lemon8 remixing Andy King's 'Poseidon' last year, the UK artist now returns the favour with a powerful take on 'A Better Place'. The energy, drive and overall muscularity from the original translates really well here, with electric lines and dancing arps blazing a trail into the main break. Emotion and scope expand across the interlude with the help of a thoughtful vocal sample, bringing with it moments of hope and reflection as the beats drop for a thunderous finale.

Also no stranger to Soundteller is Sri Lankan artist Subandrio who makes his fifteenth appearance on the Polish imprint. Famed for his detailed design and heady productions, the Colombo resident remodels 'A Better Place' into a tripped out atmospheric gem of a remix. An effects storyboard to die for ultimately fuels the narrative here, layered tastefully over Subandrio's trademark bouncy beats and flickering percussive arrangements, while fragmented vocals and swirling sonics dominate a memorable break. Powerful music from Subandrio, rounding out a must have remix edition for Lemon8's 'A Better Place'. Highly recommended.
