The latest release from Zephyr Music welcomes Kamilo Sanclemente to the label for a new single. Long regarded as one of progressive music's most prolific and beloved artists, the Colombian producer has found a home on Anjunadeep, Beatfreak, Clubsonica Records, Replug and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Having launched Zephyr Music's new sister label Skanda Records in November with his 'Blue Triangles' single, Kamilo now debuts on Zephyr with 'Altar', alongside remixes from Kerabo and Varun Fernandes.

Sitting firmly in pure progressive territory Kamilo crafts another soulful creation in ‘Altar’. Bulbous beats, lively drums and chunky bass stabs power what is a robust foundation, while mystical atmospheres and rolling rhythms fill in the framework. Spine tingling instrumentation heightens the senses across a vibrant first act, before a timely break adds just the right amount of spiritual overtones to shift energy into a groovy drop and key changing finale.

The first interpretation of 'Altar' is provided by Kerabo who makes his label debut. As an alter-ego of well known Indian artist and Lohit Records boss Kash Trivedi, Kerabo was instantly recognized for his deep, meditative grooves and cross cultural vibes. Although primarily keeping his output exclusive to Lohit, the Ahmedabad resident did provide the fifth offering for Skanda Records which landed just two weeks ago. Now adding Zephyr Music to his resume, Kerabo dials in a powerful rendition of 'Altar'. Taking a cue from the original but adding his own hypnotic flair, Kerabo goes deeper and dubbier yet equally powerful. Rolling beats and dusty percussion play off the shape-shifting atmospherics and trippy effects across the first movement, before melting down into a tastefully tense break. Percussion slowly melts away as the interlude progresses, building drama in the process and eventually revealing one of the lead motifs as the meditative groove drops for a spiritual sounding finale. On the strength of his 'Sigiriya' single, Kerabo continues to impress with an equally excellent remix here.

The release concludes with Varun Fernandes returning to the label with the second and final interpretation of 'Altar'. Having first come to our attention in 2015 with a contribution to The Purr's 'Vol.2' collection, the Indian artist continued to develop his sound across the next half decade, leading him to releases via Beatfreak, Electronic Tree, JEE Productions and more. With three remixes and a single already in the books for Zephyr, Varun returns to the label with an inspired take on 'Altar'. Warm and inviting from the outset, it’s punchy beats and frayed percussion power forward, while haunting textures and a bevy of cross-cultural elements fully saturate your pleasure centres. The main break adds just the right amount of tension through aquatic effects and luminous arps, all while a haunting backdrop provides a bridge into a trippy conclusion. A heady remix from Varun which caps off another stunning release for Zephyr Music that is not to be missed. Highly recommended.
