Releases Julien Vertigo – Endless Odyssey [Inspired By Trees] By Release Promo Posted on 26th January 2024 6 min read 0 3 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Inspired By Trees opens the new year by welcoming Julien Vertigo to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Switzerland, Julien first emerged in 2019 with a pair of singles for Garden18 Records. Immediately noted for his blend of progressive and melodic house, the Gland resident would gain momentum quickly across the next three calendar years, recording projects for Bullfinch, Mirror Walk, Rabbit Records and Uxoa Dutxa Elite, amongst others; while also earning the praise of Fideles, Joris Voorn, Kevin de Vries, Øostil and Tiesto. Julien's production success would further his career as a DJ as well, landing gigs at prominent Swiss venues alongside international talents such as Massano, Nora En Pure and Rebūke. Now, coming off a 2023 highlighted by two well-received singles for Mirror Records, Julien begins the new year by making his Inspired By Trees debut with 'Endless Odyssey'. The title selection leads the release off and lands in cross-genre territory, an area where Julian seems to operate as his creative best. It's techno-inspired framework while tight and punchy delivers a much deeper mood than what you might expect, and the overall vibe is better for it as a result. It's effortless cruising feel is welcome in a genre that tends to go for broke more often than not, and Julien's well placed metallic synth motifs hit on an invigorating level, one that only adds to the tracks flowy feel. Tying it all together perfectly is a dreamy break that rides with just right amount of tension and anticipation to uplift your dancefloor without using a sledgehammer to get the job done. Already a favourite of John OO Fleming is the companion piece 'Versatile Mind' which complements it's predecessor very well. A warmer, fuller low end and a hefty coax of phasing synths gives it a touch more emotion than 'Endless Odyssey', and in turn brings all those nostalgic feels that are hard not to love. Once again it's an effortless sense of flow within the framework which will likely make this so appealing to DJs. Snappy percussion and layered beats keep the journey fully locked on the dancefloor, while a break of swollen bass and filtered effects provides a strong emotional response to close out the release. Highly recommended.
