Hailing from Lebanon, Joseph Kaz formerly known as ID.Jay has built an impressive resume since the moniker's inception in 2019. With a sound that sits in the creative space between progressive and organic house, the Beirut resident has found a home on A Soul On Board, Amulanga, The Soundgarden and WARPP, amongst others; while earning the praise of Above & Beyond, Death On The Balcony, Hernan Cattaneo, Jody Wisternoff, M.O.S and Nick Warren. Meanwhile, Paraguayan artist Thales Senses has enjoyed a similar path to success, incorporating progressive and organic sounds into his productions, in turn landing projects via Amulanga, Do Not Sit On The Furniture, Souksonic and The Soundgarden, with Eelke Kleijn, Eli Nissan, Lost Desert, Shai T and more having all championed his work of late. Now, combining their creative forces for Musique de Lune's flagship imprint, the duo debut on the label with 'The Valley Of Samsara', alongside remixes from Den Macklin and Lucas Zárate. Title selection 'The Valley of Samsara' shows just how good the creative synergy between Joseph and Thales is, as the duo crafts a memorable organic journey that proves to be both club-effective and headphone worthy. A backbone of exotic drums and percussion sets the pace for gentle cross-cultural motifs, drifting below the surface and conjuring up transcendent imagery leading into the main break. Here, the duo crafts an interlude rich in melody, atmosphere and texture; one where glassy tonal themes and wispy effects elevate mood into mystical sounding conclusion. The companion piece 'Toscana' follows and nicely complements it's predecessor with more of a progressive vibe. A clever coax of wailing chord stabs and cross-cultural vocals make for a swing heavy first act, before further vocal evolution across the break sparks a floor-rocking finale. Making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'The Valley of Samsara' is Den Macklin who arrives to the label on the strength of releases for Songuara and The Purr. Always a creative remixer, the Russian artist delivers something truly special here, utilizing the main themes from the original over what is a more spacious and refined framework. Sense of flow is at a premium here, as this magic carpet ride through the cosmos effortlessly shifts through transcendent themes and magical musical co-actions for an unforgettable journey. The release concludes with Lucas Zárate making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Toscana'. The Argentine has already achieved measurable success with stand out releases via Amulanga, Melody Of the Soul, Peace Symphonies, Secret Feelings and Songuara. With the original mix falling closer to progressive house territory, Lucas brings an organic lean to the piece, one with with a roomier framework complete with rolling percussive arrangements and looping fragments which are nicely dialed for the dancefloor. A haunting break sits at the core of the piece, building palatable amounts of tension and drama onwards to a buoyant finale to round out the EP in fine fashion. Highly recommended.
