Jiminy Hop – Saturn [Stellar Fountain]

Jiminy Hop returns to Stellar Fountain this week with a brand new single entitled ‘Saturn’. The Russian artist is making his fifth appearance on the Hungarian label which follows releases on Electronic Tree and PHW Elements. Jiminy’s latest comes alongside remixes from Ivanshee, Mark Found and Feemarx.

Jiminy’s new Dyo Atoma project (in cooperation with Sam Scheme) has been flourishing but so to have his solo offerings. ‘Saturn’ is a pure progressive house bomb with an electric yet melodious storyboard. It’s full, warm groove is powerful and no doubt geared for peak time while a granular synth sits at the core, emanating character and grit which plays off the sweeping melodies quite nicely. This could certainly crossover into trance territory as well which the cosmic break lends itself nicely too.

It’s great to hear some variety in the remixes, starting with Ivanshee who lowers the tempo and opens up the groove for a more spacious, rhythmic feel. There’s a dark undertone running through the first act which is really nice, it's quite edgy and when the melodies do eventually hit they are all the more powerful.

Mark Found meanwhile keeps the buzzing, electric quality of the original nicely intact while expanding on the melodic narrative. It’s full commanding groove has a wealth of buzzing qualities while a spacey yet tranquil break shifts the vibe closer to celestial territory. A timely drop during the third act does wonders to add drama and emotion as a band of metallic melodies perfectly sets up a fluid finale.

The release concludes with Feemarx making his label debut which follows his exceptional album on Keep Thinking to cap off a successful 2017. The Brazilian artist and Not Another label boss delivers a slice of progressive trance heaven with a focus on free flowing melodies and effervescent qualities. The main break might be the most heartfelt moment on the release with a grandiose take on the lead theme that perfectly sets up an arpy third act with poignant chord changes. A great remix from Feemarx who is definitely someone to keep a close eye on as 2018 moves forward. An excellently epic release from Stellar Fountain perfectly suited to progressive and trance DJs alike. Don’t miss it.
