Returning from an 18-month hiatus, SIGNS presents a new EP from label boss Jim Rider and Robbie Akbal. Since emerging in 2017, UK artist Jim Rider has enjoyed measurable success across the last half-decade. A release on Lee Burridge's Tale & Tone set the course for a four-year creative swell, one which would see the London resident record projects for All Day I Dream, Akbal Music, Kindisch, Tale & Tone, TRYBESof and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. This consistent stream of superlative releases alongside extensive global touring has firmly placed Jim amongst the organic movements elite class of producers, with a bevy of the genre's tastemakers championing his work. Similarly, Mexican artist Robbie Akbal makes his SIGNS debut which follows on from a litany of successes. Now based between Italy and Thailand, Robbie's two-decade long resume is highlighted by projects for Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Kindisch, Sol Selectas and his own Akbal Music imprint. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Jim and Robbie unveil a two-track showcase entitled 'Too Loom', for the much-anticipated relaunch of SIGNS.

With a mystical flair, it is the title selection ‘Too Loom’ which sets the tone for the release. Warm, voluptuous basslines lay the foundation for panoramic arps and chirpy chord stabs to work their magic. Exotic percussive arrangements maintain a buoyant cadence across the first movement, while esoteric synth maneuveres, multi-coloured clusters and cross-cultural strums pave the way towards a spirited finale.

The spellbinding ‘Anatolia’ further cements the duo’s elusive vision, as organic drum arrangements layer warm beats and perfectly contoured bass tones. While this looping hypnotism does not fail to command your attention, it also provides the backbone for haunted phrasing and fuzzed out sonics to captivate across a timely interlude. Evoking a bucolic style ecstasy, this rolling piece eventually breaks into a groovy meditative finale, one that is sure to lift the mood of your dance floor, while rounding out a character rich showcase from two of the organic movement's most talented musical mavericks. Highly recommended.
