Influence (IN) – Lost in Sound [Lohit Deep]

Continuing a strong year, Kash Trivedi's Lohit Deep welcomes Influence (IN) back to the label for a new EP. Based in India, Influence (IN) first came to our attention last year with his 'Lost Path' EP. Also coming courtesy of Lohit Deep, it was an auspicious debut for the newcomer, one which showcased his affinity for deep organic grooves and cross-cultural themes. Projects for Ardigital Records soon followed, carrying into 2022 and making the Indian artist yet another rising talent to watch. Now returning to Lohit Deep for a third and much anticipated release, Influence (IN) presents an artist showcase entitled 'Lost in Sound'.

Spread across three tracks, it’s the rolling sounds of the title selection which get the EP underway. Dark and mysterious from the outset, its warm low end and rippling rhythms provide momentous drive, while sweeping effects and airy atmospheres fill in the framework. As the first act evolves cross-cultural vocals rise at opportune moments, creating a mystical vibe and perfectly setting the stage for a haunting break. Tense and emotive in equal measure, the centrepiece delights with it's quirky arps and ghostly textures, eventually giving way to a thunderous drop and driving arp-driven finale.

The second selection ‘In Moment’ surveys a similar design profile but with a further lean into hypnotic territory. Beginning with a warm pulsating groove, the piece evolves with buoyant rhythms, exotic percussion and soulful instrumentation making for an eventful first movement. Vibrant arps create a bridge into the break, where a colourful canopy of vocal phrasing and soulful motifs melt down to a crunchy, peak time worthy conclusion.

The release concludes with ‘Timeless’ where Influence (IN) explores a darker narrative, without drifting too far from the mood set by its predecessors. Its full, rolling groove is perfectly carved with wavy contours and voluptuous swing, while spacious percussion and waves of cosmic artifacts further saturate your senses. Its dark design proves irresistible as the break approaches, with buzzing effects taking centrestage and ultimately leading to the EP’s most tense moment, as billowing stabs and mesmerizing arps set the stage for a section of broken beats trippy sonics. It rounds out an inspired collection of music from Influence (IN), an artist to watch as 2022 moves forward, as he makes an excellent return to Kash Trivedi's Lohit Deep imprint with 'Lost in Sound'.
