Releases Gux Jimenez & Alexander Urzola – Marimbalenque [Nature Rec] By Release Promo Posted on 6th February 2021 5 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Nature Rec welcomes Gux Jimenez back to the label for a new single in collaboration with Alexander Urzola. Hailing from Colombia, Gux Jimenez was instrumental in launching the label last year, remixing it's first release by fellow countryman Kamilo Sanclemente. Over a decade into his production career the Cartagena resident has also showcased his music via Clubsonica Records, Or Two Strangers and Mango Alley. Now making a welcome return to Nature Rec. he teams up with Alexander Urzola for a new single alongside remixes from Rodrigo Lapena & Gonzalo Sacc and Dark Soul Project. The original mix finds the duo crafted an organic and deeply musical piece that still holds it's weight on the dance floor. Aptly titled it's a hypnotic marimba line which dazzles over a groovy foundation and liquid-like arps. Emotive chord changes further the narrative across the break, as bass stabs add splashes of tension, before seguing into a bouncy finale. First up on the remixes is one of the progressive scenes hottest duos Rodrigo Lapena & Gonzalo Sacc. This Argentinean pair delivered strong material all across 2020 and continue that momentum with a superb remix of 'Marimbalenque'. Taking the track in a more progressive direction, the duo reinvents the main themes in a less distinct fashion over a fuller and equally powerful groove. Placid atmospheres add great depth across the eight minute journey, while an effects laden break provides all the sensory stimulation you could ever want. Rounding out the release with the second and final remix is Dark Soul Project who makes his label debut. The Argentinean artist and We Are The Underground label boss has been a known figure in the progressive music scene for many years with a long line of releases for Beat Boutique and Balkan Connection. Here he brings his remixing skills to 'Marimbalenque' with a darker rendition that complements the previous two versions really well. It's synth heavy storyboard has a frantic feel, flowing with unpredictability, eventually revealing a cross cultural vocal which pushes the track further into a dark, percussion finale. A quality interpretation from Dark Soul Project which caps off another must have release from Nature Rec, a new label who have certainly gotten 2021 off to a great start. Highly recommended.
