The German artist has just one previous release courtesy of Matan Caspi’s Outta Limits two weeks ago. Soundteller label boss Deersky has a great ear for new talent and now showcases Galexis’ first ever artist EP entitled ‘Man on the Moon’. Beginning with ‘The Shining’ you get an immediate sense for just how talented Galexis is. It’s warm, melodious groove is quite inviting and with a healthy dose of celestial voices, delicate arps and glowing synth swells you end up with a gorgeous seven minute journey. The narrative shifts gears into more techno inspired territory with ‘Astron’. Although tougher and more deliberate at the outset the storyboard evolves with a piano initiated break and subtle chord changes which play off the melodic hooks perfectly. Tough yet poignant, a gorgeous piece from Galexis. The release concludes with the title track ‘Man on the Moon’. The first thing you notice is the character in the low end, contoured for maximum proggy roll and complete with traditional chord changes it’s a perfect foundation for the sparkling melodies and astral effects to work their magic over. The amount of timely drops and clever transitions makes for an exhilarating journey and it’s something that can be said for all the tracks on the EP actually. A great collection of music from an exciting new artist who has now proven to be one to watch in 2018. In a year where progressive house found its feet again Soundteller was no doubt one of the leaders of pack. Very excited to watch the label grow and showcase new, exciting artists in 2018.
