Presenting their fourth release of the year, pad welcomes Federico Monachesi to the label with 'Taiga'. With a career that spans the better part of two decades, the Argentinean artist lays claim to releases courtesy of Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings and Soundteller Records, while also earning the support of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn and Nick Muir. Now in a year that seen Federico with a lone release via Nature Rec, the Tucuman resident makes his debut on pad with 'Taiga', alongside remixes from NAHS and Kenan Savrun.

Staying true to his progressive roots Federico's 'Taiga' draws on the nostalgic sensibilities of the genre. A tough and chunky groove sits at the foundation, providing the perfect backbone for fiery percussion and catchy melodic fragments to work their magic. Glowing harmonics highlight the first act, fading in for poignant moments and eventually initiating the main break. Clustered melodies dominate the interlude, elevating mood and setting the stage for a powerful drop and gorgeous finale.

Also making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Taiga' is NAHS. Although only emerging in 2020, the Buenos Aires resident has already landed releases via Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Now adding pad to his resume the fast rising Argentine dials in a rousing rendition of 'Taiga'. The tempo shifts up and what comes with it is a fuller, more muscular groove and driving percussion. Geared for peak time play, the main harmonic themes eventually appear, reprocessed and sitting gently below the surface, while a tension building break sets the course for an atmospheric finale.

The release concludes with a third label debutant Kenan Savrun who provides the second and final interpretation of 'Taiga'. The Turkish artist has compiled an impressive resume since arriving on the progressive scene in 2019. Releases on Droid9, Movement Recordings and Soundteller Records sit prominently in his discography, while his near two-decade long career as a DJ has seen him share the decks with Alex Niggemann, Eli and Fur, Andy Bros, Victor Ruiz and Oliver Huntemann. Now continuing what has been a great year, the Ankara resident debuts on pad with a powerful interpretation of 'Taiga'. The tempo shifts back down from the previous mix and allows for a version with a great sense of rhythm and space. Kenan has become a master at slow building epics and this falls nicely inline with it's hypno-themes and wispy atmospheres. Deliberate and driving, the percussion keeps the focus firmly on the dance floor, perfectly setting the stage for an emotive, arp driven break which spearheads a colourful build and exhilarating conclusion. Spectacular stuff from Kenan as usual, which rounds out another superb offering from pad, a label who continue to be one of Argentina's best new progressive house imprints. Highly recommended.
