Executive Producer & Augustine Wrong – Trust x Love [Strange Town Recordings]

Presenting their third release of the year, Strange Town Recordings welcomes Executive Producer & Augustine Wrong to the label with 'Trust x Love'. The former, who recorded for years under a well known alias, showcased their music via Atlant, My Favourite Robot and Selador. Now reborn under the Executive Producer alias the duo began their new journey with a contribution to Traum's 'Tour De Traum XIX' collection from July of last year. Now releasing their first official single, the duo collaborate with Augustine Wrong on 'Trust x Love' alongside remixes from Gai Barone and Fameache.

Enchanting from the start, the Original Mix plays beautifully with a deep, key changing bassline and ethereal vocals leading the way. There's something quite seductive about this, it never goes too far or gets too big as too lose it's mystical vibe, and although the main break unveils a wonky, astral lead; Executive Producer really dials this back with sparse placement across the final act. It's this restraint which allows those ethereal vocals and tasteful effects to breathe so well, and ultimately shine as the narrative evolves.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation is Gai Barone. It's been a strong year for the storied Italian producer. Appearances on Bedrock Records and Pure Progressive have followed an excellent 2020 which ended with his D-Nox collaborations being released by Germany's Parquet Recordings. Now making his debut on Canada's finest progressive house imprint, Gai dials in a lovely rendition of 'Trust x Love'. A deep, spacious groove sets the pace and ultimately gives the journey a smooth, hypno vibe. It's this mesmerizing drawl which continues to captivate across the nine minute journey, as atmospheric phrasing, percussive flurries and a fragmented take on the lead provide a trippy finale.

Also making their label debut are Fameache who provide the second and final interpretation of 'Trust x Love'. Comprised of Vitaly Khvaleev (Moonbeam) and Kyamran Tuychiev, Fameache takes things back into melodic house & techno territory with a deep, rippling groove and dynamic lead which brings a new dimension to the track. A nostalgic sounding break takes you closer to trancier territory in a way, all while maintaining the tasteful elegance of the source material. Superb stuff from Fameache which rounds out an excellent offering from Strange Town Recordings, a label who goes into the summer season with some nice momentum.
