Ewan Rill & Loveski – Elau (Remix Edition) [Balkan Connection]

As one of Balkan Connection's best selling tracks, Ewan Rill & Loveski's 'Elau' now gets remade by Subandrio, Lanvary and Luciano Scheffer. Released in September of 2017 the track still sits atop Loveksi's Beatport best sellers while holding down the #4 position in Ewan's top 10. A remarkable achievement for a track that is approaching two years old. We now see a fine trio of artists updating it for the summer of 2019.

One of the progressive house scene's brightest stars in Subandrio is first up. The Sri Lankan's sound is distinctive and much loved by both his fans and contemporaries. He's continued to refine and tweak his hallmark's for a consistently exciting sonic palette. On 'Elau' he reshapes the elements into an electric shell, one where powerful grooves and rhythmic pulses are transcendent. Quite astral at points, momentum builds as the melodic storyboard takes shape, with atmospheric overlays and fuzzy harmonics adding depth, before the second of three breaks brings the house down with a magical drop.

Next up are Lanvary who we last heard from with their 'Sideralis' EP also courtesy of Balkan Connection. The Moldovan duo choose their projects wisely and they've managed to craft something special here once again. Backed by a tougher more robust framework, it’s a mix which carries a larger presence from the outset. The overall narrative is closely tied to the original but with a sleeker more refined flow and a smooth build as opposed to dynamic transitions. Perhaps most impactful is the beginning of the third act, perfectly setup by two short breaks and an atmospheric bridge, it’s timely drop comes off quite powerful and ultimately seals a strong finale.

The release concludes with one of Brazil's finest in Luciano Scheffer. Having recently turned in an amazing remix for Ivanshee's 'Serpantine' (courtesy of Clubsonica) the Ribeirão Pires resident now debuts on Balkan Connection with a superb remix of 'Elau'. Taking a slightly more grandiose approach has worked wonders here, adding emotion and depth while staying true to the rhythmic hooks from the original. A bright tonal theme highlights the break as a classic roll ensues below, perfectly shifting energy into a heavenly finale. Luciano has long been one of the progressive scene's most underrated talents and this mix is further evidence of that. Superb work from the Brazilian artist which caps off an excellent remix edition for Balkan Connection. Highly recommended.
