Erich Von Kollar, Drekaan – Leave the Earth With One Jump [RKP]

Ruben Karapetyan's RKP continues a strong start to the year by welcoming Drekaan & Erich Von Kollar to the label for their debut EP. Based in Hungary, Endre Kánai aka Drekaan has been crafting his own unique brand of progressive house for the better part of three years. An impressive debut on Pole Folder's Reworck imprint set the course for future projects via AH Digital, Future Avenue and Stellar Fountain. Meanwhile, also based in Hungary is Erich Von Kollar who lands on the label with nearly fifteen years of production experience. Much like many progressive house producers, the Debrecen resident has recently revitalized his career with a string of organic-focused productions via Amulanga, Nordic Voyage and his own Stellar Fountain imprint. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Drekaan and Erich Von Kollar make their RKP debut with a two-track showcase entitled 'Leave The Earth With One Jump'.

The title selection leads the release off with a club-effective style that delivers both dramatic and emotive moments. A DJ friendly intro sets a buoyant mood with rolling grooves, vibrant percussion and a clever coax of melodic fragments. Drawing from an early 2000's progressive blueprint, the piece builds energy with each successive pass, as melodies open against a backdrop of emotive key changes, in turn creating a colourful first act. A calming break only adds to its dancefloor appeal, quickly re-assembling percussive arrangements, as a short build reveals a finale of muted chord stabs and metallic melodies.

The second and final selection 'Second Impression' finds the duo crafting an old school slice of progressive house which complements its predecessor nicely. Rich in atmosphere and texture, the duo work evolving soundscapes and trippy motifs across a dark and murky bottom end. Rolling clusters and rhythmic percussion provide a path into the main break that is both trippy and captivating. Here, Drekaan and Erich add further intrigue to the journey with a cinematic-style build and suitably dreamy finale to round out the release on a high note.
