Enligh10 & Mental Rescue – Delirium [Onestar Records]

Onestar Records rounds out the month of November by welcoming Mental Rescue and Enligh10 to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Medellin, Colombian artist Sergio Gallo aka Mental Rescue is best known for his cohesive blend of progressive and melodic house. Having recently adopted the Mental Rescue alias, Sergio made his debut via Supacooks' Kitchen Recordings alongside fellow countryman Paul Lennar, with their joint production 'Blue Skies Above'. Also based in Colombia is Mateo Gutierrez aka Enligh10 who has been showcasing his traditional take on house music via his own Enligh10 Music Group imprint, and racking up considerable streams in the process. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Mental Rescue and Enligh10 debut on Onestar Records with 'Delirium', alongside a remix from PIMI.

The original mix leads the release off and showcases a great creative synergy between Mental Rescue and Enligh10. Wrapped within a smooth DJ friendly intro are warm beats, pulsating basslines and swing heavy rhythms. The Colombian duo's storyboarding takes hold as catchy hooks and charming atmospheres emerge across the first act, carrying with them a sense of anticipation and emotion. The main break showcases the duo's penchant for evocative musicality, as a piano theme, airy vocal pads and gorgeous harmonic refrains unite for impassioned moments, eventually giving way to a groovy drop and uplifting finale.

The release concludes with PIMI returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Delirium'. Juan Carlos Ortiz Pimienta aka PIMI has been an established DJ in his home country of Colombia for some time. As a regular at Medellin's premiere venues, PIMI has won over the city's crowds with his unique selections and exquisite programming skills. An emerging production career has seen PIMI release his first projects this year beginning with his Onestar debut 'Mantra', a release which would lead to further projects via Hexagonal Music and his own Mycelium imprint. Now, as PIMI continues to survey a successful first year, he returns to Onestar with a thrilling take on 'Delirium'. Focusing on a less conventional monochrome, PIMI goes deep and progressive for what results in a thrilling eight-minute journey. Rebounding rhythms and deep chugging basslines set the course for waves of flickering percussion, drifting melodies and elastic-like rhythms. Looking to bring a greater emotional response, PIMI finds a superb dancefloor dynamic across the main break, as clustered melodies, wispy effects and glowing pads unite in an ultrasonic marriage, before a clever coax of tension-filled modulation perfectly sets up an epic drop and huge peak time finale.
