East Cafe - Drops In A Downpour [SoulArt Recordings]

SoulArt Recordings returns this week with a brand new single from East Cafe. The Hungarian label made a huge statement with their first release, the long awaited debut album of Robert R. Hardy. It proved to be an immense success reaching #4 in the Beatport Progressive House Top 100 and #23 overall. It was also Robert's finest work to date and is still getting a fair share of play even two months after its release. Now comes time for SoulArt to introduce another Hungarian talent to the label with East Cafe delivering his first single entitled 'Drops In A Downpour'.

Known for his chunked up, beefy grooves East Cafe has also become a favourite amongst top DJs including Hernan Cattaneo. On 'Drops In A Downpour' we see the Hungarian at his musical best with a summery creation that going to stick with you for quite some time. It's strong framework makes it ideal for the dance floor and as always you get a large and well carved foundation. The highlight would have to be the break for all its heartfelt moments and attention to detail, before dropping into a smooth set of chord changes on the road home. Excellent stuff from East Cafe.

There are a wealth of remixes to choose from here, four in total which begins with part of the SoulArt team Chris Drifter. A true veteran of the progressive underground Chris brings his unique club vision to 'Drops in a Downpour' with a radically reshaped groove and a more neatly tailored framework. I could see this going down well on a variety of dance floors because of its versatility and the melodic themes still translate really well. Great remix from a master of the genre.

Next up Goyes & Dave C. also strip things back a touch with a tough, driving mix that uses the melodic elements to great effect. It's a touch dryer than the previous two versions so there's a mild techno sensibility but without sacrificing any of the emotional characteristics. Lovely remix from Goyes & Dave C.

Up next is the man who launched the label Robert R. Hardy with a deeper and more introspective version. His ethereal take on the melodies is dreamy, less distinct and oh so wonderful. The overall smoothness of the production is incredible, with gorgeous sweeps, meandering motifs and dulcet rhythms carrying the framework with ease. A joy to listen to and perfect for those deeper dance floors.

The release concludes with one of the progressive scenes brightest new talents Sebastian Busto. The Argentinean artist has been tipped as one to watch and a recent release on Sound Avenue more than reaffirms that. Here he makes his SoulArt debut in style and closes the release out on a great note, taking 'Drops In A Downpour' into more melodic territory with great reflective moments. None moreso than during the break which is an appropriate way to remember the release; soulful and full of warm musicality. Looking forward to what comes next from SoulArt as they are certainly on a roll. Highly Recommended.
