Continuing what has been a great year, Dynacom returns to John Johnson's ICONYC with 'Lost Boy'. 2021 has proved fruitful for Argentinean talent Dynacom. The Buenos Aires resident has delivered a string of impressive releases for his AMITABHA and Auditen imprints, while also notching excellent remixes for Monostone and Sebastian Busto & Bodai. It's been exactly three years since Dynacom's ICONYC debut 'Black Lion' and now he makes a welcome return to the US imprint with 'Lost Boy', alongside remixes from Renato Cohen and HIGHLITE.

Perhaps best known for his darker productions, 'Lost Boy' finds Dynacom exploring more melodic territory. The Argentine's fuller, muscular grooves still sit at the foundation, providing immense drive, while liquid-like rhythms and percussive flashes push momentum forward. It's the melodic content which ultimately shines here though, made up of nostalgic chord changes, timely vocal phrasing and a bevy of effects and arps, all masterfully bound by a growling low end. Definitely one for those special morning moments.

Making his label debut and providing the first interpretation of 'Lost Boy' is Renato Cohen. The Brazilian artist has been a staple of the electronic underground for the better part of two decades. Selective in his projects, the São Paulo resident lays claim to an impressive discography highlighted by releases on Clash Music, DAYS like NIGHTS, Drumcode and Systematic Recordings. Now adding ICONYC to his resume, Renato provides an inspired take on 'Lost Boy'. Keeping the spirit of the original while adding a techno state of mind, Renato reshapes the groove into a peak time chugger that's nicely accentuated with fragmented vocals, tight metallic hooks and nicely timed effects. Emotive chord changes appear at opportune moments, pushing the flow and vibe while buzzing sweeps add just the right amount of tension and colour across and exhilarating finale

The release concludes with HIGHLITE also making their label debut and provided the second and final interpretation of 'Lost Boy'. As relative newcomers the Russian duo have made measurable strides since first appearing just over two years ago. Releases courtesy of BeatFreak Limited, Parquet Recordings and Steyoyoke highlight their discography, and have served as ideal landing spots for their amalgamation of indie dance and melodic house & techno. Their 'Lost Boy' interpretation lands somewhere lands somewhere closer to the latter with crunchy rhythms, devilish stabs and emotive overlays sitting atop a fluid, key changing groove. The electric nature of the track serves it well and ultimately sets the tone for a short but dynamic break. Striking tones ring out in timeless suspension across the interlude, set nicely against a backdrop of wavy arps, before melting down to an emotive drop and thrilling finale. Full of emotion and power, it caps off what is a long overdue return to ICONYC for Dynacom, an artist who continues to deliver inspired work as 2021 reaches it's fourth quarter. Highly recommended.
