Dylan Deck – Sweet & Sour [SLC-6 Music]

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-6 Music welcomes Dylan Deck back to the label for 'Sweet and Sour.' Hailing from Malta, Dylan Deck has been a fixture of the progressive house underground for the better part of a decade. On the strength of early tracks like 'Distinguished' and 'Darkest Night', Dylan was quickly recognized for his energetic grooves and emotive melodies. Projects for genre mainstays Another Life Music, Balkan Connection, Droid9 and more soon followed, as did support from Hernan Cattaneo and Miss Monique, making the Il-Hamrun resident a trusted talent to watch. Having made his SLC-6 Music debut last year with a remix of 'Galex' by Sebastian Haas, Dylan now makes a welcome return for his debut single 'Sweet and Sour', alongside remixes from Gux Jimenez and Allan McLoud.

'Sweet and Sour' finds Dylan operating at the peak of his melodic powers as he works trance-inspired motifs over tough beats and driving percussion. Coming to full fruition across a heartwarming break; scintillating synth flares and balmy pads emerge, eventually converging for a colourful apex and smooth, key changing finale. Hailing from Colombia and returning to SLC-6 Music for his second remix is Gux Jimenez who comes off excellent releases for Balkan Connection and Sound Avenue. The Cartagena resident puts the focus on rhythm, groove and slow-burn repetition, in turn crafting a version complete with robotized vocals, nasally acid lines and a strong percussive cadence. Rounding out the release with the final remix is Allan McLoud who makes his label debut on the strength of releases via John 00 Fleming's Joof Aura and Droid9. The Scottish-born, Zurich-based artist provides a deeper atmospheric take which delights through a storyboard of evolving textures and rejuvenating melodies that should fare well in the morning hours.
