The latest release on Transpecta finds Donatello returning to the label for a brand new single entitled ‘Tears’. The Lithuanian artist last appeared on the Hungarian imprint in June of this year with his ‘Moon Walk’ single. Now following a release on Click Records, Donatello returns to his comfortable home of Transpecta with a new single alongside remixes from Enamour and Ubre Blanca.

Donatello's spacious yet emotive productions have resonated in the progressive underground for many years. On 'Tears' he balances that synergy perfectly once again with a chunky groove, vocal fragments and a kaleidoscopic theme. It's a perfect sonic marriage which delights across its seven minute journey, ultimately peaking during the final act, where smooth chord changes and tasteful effects elevate the mood a notch further. Donatello has also provided a 'Fused Chill' version which has been earning praise amongst DJs pre-release. Keeping the main themes in tact the Lithuanian artist crafts a bed of broken beats and warm bass swells to carry the composition, before effortlessly transitioning into a 4x4 finale, complete with elastic like synths and all the emotive content of the original. Perhaps best suited for early morning play it's spiritual vibe sits as wonderful complement to the original.

The first interpretation of ‘Tears’ is provided by Enamour who is making his label debut. The US artist owns a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on mau5trap, This Never Happened, WHATIPLAY and Days Like Nights. His contemporary take on melodic house is a perfect fit for ‘Tears’ as he adds a driving, fluid feel to the piece that’s perfectly dialled for the dance floor. Aquatic designs and an ethereal take on the vocal elements make for a dreamy journey while a mildly dramatic break delivers just the right amount of tension.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Tears’ is provided by Ubre Blanca who are also making their label debut. The UK duo overhaul the piece into a slice of 80’s nostalgia with a vintage low end and rolling rhythmic core. Highlighting the track though is a brilliantly crafted break and final act where emotion is at a premium. A brilliant remix from a duo I was not familiar with so definitely looking forward to hearing more from them. It caps off a well rounded release for Transpecta who continue to be one of the more dominant progressive imprints this year. Highly recommended.
